Road Trip

Patar is about a five to six hour drive from Metro Manila, depending on traffic out of the city and which expressway you take. NLEX to SCTEX to TPLEX gets you most of the way; the last hour winds through Pangasinan along the coast.

It is the kind of drive that benefits from a stop or two. The modern highway stations along the route, Petron, Shell, and PTT, carry familiar restaurants and coffee shops. For something local, Tarlac, Sual, and Alaminos are good places to break for coffee along the way. The minimum two-night stay at Veue exists because the road is what it is, and a single night does not pay for the drive.
