Patar & Bolinao

Wet Market

The Bolinao Public Market sits on Efren Peralta Street in the town centre, a few minutes past the church. The seafood section is upstairs, well-organised and restocked daily from the boats coming in along the gulf.

Local catches include sungayan, the unicorn fish that Bolinao is famous for and the namesake of Sungayan Grill on the Balingasay. Worth a look too: Pangasinan bangus, lapu-lapu, malaga, dorado, large reef squid, and live alimasag and alimango crabs. The ground level carries pork, beef, and produce. For pasalubong, the dried-fish section has danggit, daing na dilis, split sun-dried bangus, and the local binungey, sticky rice cooked inside bamboo tubes.

Open daily from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Tuesday and Saturday are the busiest market days. Come in the morning if you want the freshest seafood drop, and bring a cooler if you are stopping on the way out from Patar.
